If you want sunshine in the grey months, you don't need long trips with connections. Here is where you can fly direct from Budapest and Vienna in winter – we checked every route on the airline's own website.
From Budapest
Tenerife (Canary Islands): Wizz Air flies direct and adds flights in winter. Mild winter weather, volcanic landscapes and beaches in the south.
Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt, Red Sea): both have direct Wizz Air flights, and both get more flights this winter. Diving, snorkelling and winter sun.
Marsa Alam (Egypt): a new route – Wizz Air flies twice a week from 27 October 2026 to this quieter resort known for its coral reefs.
Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Emirates says it flies daily, with a flight time of about six hours; flydubai says it moves to daily flights from 25 October 2026.
From Vienna
Tenerife: Austrian flies direct, several times a week according to the airline, with a flight time of about 5 h 15 min.
Gran Canaria: Austrian flies direct, twice a week according to the airline, with a flight time of about 5 h 10 min.
