Venice is considering a substantial increase in its entry fee for day visitors in 2027. Reuters reported that city officials are discussing a fee of up to €30, compared with the lower charges used in the current access-fee system.
The important point for travellers is that this is a proposal, not a confirmed 2027 tariff. Venice has been experimenting with access charges for day-trippers as part of its response to overtourism, and the final structure, dates, exemptions and advance-booking rules can still change.
The existing system has applied only on selected busy days and includes exemptions. That means travellers should not assume that every visitor or every date will automatically attract the same charge in the future.
If Venice is on your 2027 list, check the city's official access-fee portal again before booking non-refundable plans. We will update this article when the municipality confirms the final 2027 rules rather than treating a proposal as a finished policy.
