Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) presented its 2027 timetable on 14 October. The new timetable takes effect across Europe on 13 December 2026, and ticket sales have already started.
Two new direct EC trains will run from Vienna via Bratislava and Žilina to Košice. After the upgrade of the Passau–Nuremberg line, ICE services to Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Dortmund and Berlin return: there will be ten daily ICEs from Vienna to Nuremberg, plus a new overnight ICE between Vienna and Stuttgart.
From summer 2027, together with Deutsche Bahn and Trenitalia, a Frecciarossa will run Munich–Innsbruck–Milan/Rome. A direct train to Belgrade is planned for the first time since 2019, with two trains a day in each direction and a journey time of about six and a half hours; the exact start depends on line approval in Hungary.
Between 8 February and 9 July 2027, longer closures in Germany (Freilassing–Rosenheim) and on the Tauern line will affect westbound journeys. ÖBB says the 2027 timetable data is not yet complete, so check the SCOTTY journey planner again before you travel.
